Truck & Offroad Rebuild

Long lasting, problem free rebuilds.

Inertia Lab is known for expert, timely and extremely thorough servicing of shock absorbers and coilovers.  We can make old junk look and perform great again.  With all the correct tools to do the job and factory supplied seals and parts we are a premier resource for shock work.

Pricing depends upon the shock size and design (IFP, remote reservoir, bypass etc) and the amount of work or damaged parts needed.  Some 2.0 IFP ICONs are worth purchasing new unless fast turn around is needed.  See the before and after results below.

What Truck and Off-Road shocks are serviced?

We only service the following brands with no exceptions:

  • ICON – Factory Authorized Service Center
  • Radflo Suspension Technology
  • King Off-Road Racing Shocks

What is the rebuild process?

When you fill out the form above and ship the shocks in they are first received by having pictures taken, a customer profile generated and the job is given a workflow.  Physical work begins with a damage inspection. Perch heights are left alone or documented and each damper is given an ID sticker for tracking the work performed.  The condition of major components such as the oil, shaft surface, piston, bores and the inside surface of the main body will be inspected.  If the physical parts fundamentally required are undamaged, the service will move forward.

In general, a full rebuild consists of fresh oil, seals, shim damage, knob functionality, resurfacing of the shaft and separator piston o-ring groove and a very thorough cleaning.  Any damaged parts found at any point are an additional cost and will only be quoted once the inspection is completed.  If parts are under a 15% difference to overall cost of the rebuild we will automatically continue.

We utilize heavy duty heated parts washing equipment for most exterior parts and a professional level ultrasonic cleaner when required to clean internal component parts thoroughly in places not possible to reach.

Each brand/model has their own level of time commitment to work on, parts pricing and process so each brand/model may have its own service cost.  If in doubt it is best to contact us about your needs so we can set the appropriate expectations.

What are common problems not covered by the service cost?

Shaft damage is by far the most common.  It is usually the result of debris getting trapped in the wiper seal and etching a groove into the chrome shaft or from rock chips.  Both of these things can be eliminated with our shock covers (left).  Shaft cost starts around $90 for most Icon shafts and can increase depending on size and brand.

End eye bearings are another common wear item that is additional.  Most of the time the front coilovers at the control arm fare the worst.  We only replace as needed and the bearing and labor is usually about $40.
